Subscription Fatigue
I'm sick of the shit.
Yesterday I glitched. I'm talking about a literal short circuit of my internal wiring. I finally...fucking...had it.
I was traveling to Philly yesterday and I realized I forgot my debit card. No worries, I'll just go to my bank account and access my virtual card. When auntie is trying to navigate the app…because all of a sudden I turn 39 and I don't know how to use technology... I see that my account balance is WAY off.
So I get to looking... and what do I see? Autopay and direct debit charges for apps and subscriptions I CANCELED! I'm talking about have the receipts and everything. And in that moment I saw nothing but red. I can honestly say it felt like I had been violated. I literally felt like someone came up and robbed me, and my next thought was I need to exact my revenge.
First on the list was Verizon. I called them up and spent the next 1.5 of my 2.5 hour drive calling AGAIN to cancel this damn tablet my kids no longer use. Mind you... I only paid $10 per month for it. Then it jumped to $53, and that's when I canceled it. THEN they had the nerve to charge me $93. Just adding charges and stealing my money. Literal theft. The customer service agent even acknowledged that I had called to cancel but then went on some spiel about billing cycles and shit. I politely said "I don't care about all that. Cut this shit off and refund me my money." Period.
That then led to me going through and cutting EVERYTHING OFF. Netflix, Hulu, Canva, Verizon Fios, etc. If I saw the charge on my account, I was cancelling it. I. Don't. Give. A. Fuck. I switched over to mint mobile, paid the $87 for three months, and let that be that. I'm tired of these companies having direct access to my hard earned funds.
Then I took it a step further cause I'm sick of apple and their shit. You say I don't have any storage? Don't worry about it. I went into my phone and deleted almost every got damn app.
Google? You offering me a deal for 99 cents for three months of storage? Well fuck you too. I went into my emails and unsubscribed from every got damn thing I could. Then went in and deleted all of my emails. Just cleared the bitch.
Even on Substack... I had to go through and unsubscribe from the daily emails. My nervous system honestly can't take the digital clutter anymore.
After I did all that I felt a weight lift off of my shoulders. These invisible chains have been broken, and for this moment... I'll enjoy the peace.

I feel this!!! Because why is everything a monthly bill? It’s not sustainable. Don’t get me started on Email fatigue. It’s a nuisance.
Just did the sammmmeeeee and my brain felt so much clearer! Good for you!
